HOME SCHOOLERS OF TENNESSEE: COME TO RALLY DAY!
In our
Rally at our state Capitol we promote and protect home education as we learn
together of significant legal and legislative efforts to protect our freedom to
home educate and as we bring the good report of home schooling to our Tennessee
lawmakers.
We will
hear from Dr. Farris of efforts nationally and internationally impacting home
education, parental rights and religious liberties, including his defense of
the Romeike family.
We will
again support and pray for our guests, home educators Uwe & Hanna Romeike
& their six children whose case will be argued by Dr. Farris before the US 6th
Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday, April 23rd.
As you may
know, in 2008 the Romeike's took refuge in Tennessee from persecution in
Germany for their Christian homeschooling but are now facing deportation
because of rulings by our nation's Department of Justice & Board of
Immigration Appeals!
Let’s join
together to learn, support, pray, and celebrate home schooling, communicating
to our lawmakers that their protection of our right to home educate is
foundational to our life style and educational choice.
So what all can my Family do on
Rally Day?
1.
Come to hear Dr. Michael Farris speak in
the Rally in the War Memorial Auditorium from 8:45 - 11:00 in the morning.
Meet and pray for the Romeike family in the Rally! Hear Dr. Farris speak
of his defense of the Romeike's. In the afternoon attend his free Constitutional
Boot Camp! See those details below.
2. Call your Senator and Representative and arrange
an appointment, preferably in the time between 11:30 & 12:30, to talk with
them on Tuesday April 16, 2013.
3. Cookie Gift Bags will be prepared for you to take
to all the legislator's staff. The staff
cannot wait to get their cookies! Delivery begins when the program is over. So
go pick up the Cookie Gift Bag for your legislators prior to going to your
office visit. The Gift Bags will be located on the lowest level, the
Legislative Plaza, LP level. First,
you must exit the WMA and go through the secured entrance at 6th Ave. & Union to receive a
picture nametag as a result of the newly instituted security requirements. Then go down the hallway to your right towards
Speaker Beth Harwell's office and around the corner from her office to the
Cookie table. See the attachment for more details about the new security requirements.
4. Plan to attend the THEA Homeschooler's Luncheon hosted by THEA beginning as soon as the
Rally is dismissed served right outside the WMA doors in the
Courtyard. THEA wants you, the homeschoolers of
Tennessee, to join us for this Luncheon, hopefully making your Rally Day simpler, easier and more enjoyable! The menu, dictated
by guidelines of the WMA, is Bar-B-Que pork or turkey, cole slaw, macaroni and
cheese, chips, cookies and bottled water. Lunch will be served in TO GO boxes so
you can return to the WMA to enjoy your lunch along with the special entertainment. REGISTER FOR THE LUNCHEON HERE so we have plenty of food:
www.tnhea.org/register
In the WMA during lunch time, the Nashville Notes Homeschool Band will
have various ensembles playing. There will also be a group of string players
and a homeschooled Celtic dancer performing to Irish music for your enjoyment.
Donations
for lunch are not required but are appreciated. They are accepted by credit card on the THEA web site or by cash or check in
the donation box in the lunch line.
5. Plan to attend Michael Farris' Constitutional Boot Camp in the
afternoon in the sanctuary of McKendree United Methodist Church, 523 Church
Street, near the Nashville Downtown Library, just 1.5 blocks from the Rally
site, the War Memorial Auditorium. This Seminar is for Parents and Students,

with a strong interest in government and history are welcome! REGISTER HERE FOR THE BOOT CAMP:

supplies that we need for the day. Please pre-register at Kristan.ware@yahoo.com
. Please place the words Constitution Fun Camp in the subject line, and leave
an email with the name(s) and ages of the child(ren) who you wish to

7.
Also in the afternoon from 1:00 - 4:00, Christian Communicators of Tennessee

of Representatives in the Capitol Building. You and your family can come and go as you please to observe
from the House Chamber galleries on either side of the House
Chamber our homeschool students debating and voting on
the bills & resolutions they have written and researched for this
Student Congress tournament.
Plan
now to join us and Rally for home schooling on Tuesday, April 16th!
Together
we bring a strong message to those who make our laws that homeschooling is
thriving in Tennessee, the rights of parents must be protected and guaranteed
by our state laws and we want our lawmakers to represent us faithfully!!
