International Fashion Show and Multi-Cultural Fair

The troop of American Heritage Girls

at Forest Hills Baptist Church

is hosting an

International Fashion Show and Multi-Cultural Fair

on May 6 at 6:30pm  

Anyone may attend as spectators, or your girl (ages 5-18) may also participate in the fashion show by wearing a costume representing the country or culture of her choice, and say "hello" and "goodbye" in the native language.  We will also have tables set up for the girls to have a display for their country, potentially including snacks, recipes, jewelry, games, or art.  

We do ask that anyone wishing to participate in this event please RSVP no later than April 19th so that we will have enough time to prepare and organize.  American Heritage Girls helps girls of all ages develop leadership skills, so this particular event is primarily being coordinated by one of our 6th grade Explorers, Sierra Gonzalez for her "Lewis and Clark Award" with assistance from 11th grade Patriot, Aleah Pope.

NanoDays, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Learn about the miniscule world of atoms, molecules, and nanoscale forces. Explore how 3D images are made, investigate new nano products and materials, and imagine what the world might look like if we could build an elevator to space!

DNA Day, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. In partnership with Vanderbilt’s Center for Human Genetics Research, national DNA Day is a unique event where students, teachers and the public can learn more about genetics and genomics!

Lone Oak Summer Day Camp

SUMMER DAY CAMP - Lone Oak Day Camp, founded in 1999, is a non-profit day camp located in Franklin, TN. Each day begins with a Bible devotional followed by traditional day camp activities such as swimming, fishing, hiking, bicycle riding, pavilion games, and arts and crafts. Lunch is provided and there is no cost to attend this camp. For the past three years , the camp has offered a week for home schoolers; 40 attended last summer, but we have room for more. The ages are minimum/entering first grade and the maximum is 12 years old.The hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Christian Youth Theater summer camps

Christian Youth Theater is offering a special discount to MTHEA Families for their summer camp, Hats Off to Broadway!, for ages 4-7, 8-12 and 13-18. Hats Off to Broadway features high energy games and activities that incorporate techniques in singing, dancing and character development. Students will learn numbers from many popular Broadway shows to perform in a showcase for family and friends at the week's end. Our camps and classes can be used for fine arts credits for students of all ages.

"Hats Off to Broadway" will be presented the week of July 8-12 at Belmont United Methodist Church in Green Hills and the week of July 22-26 at Christ Church in Brentwood. Tuition is regularly $200, but register before May 1 to receive an early bird discount of $15 per tuition, then use the coupon code MTHEA to receive an additional $15, a total savings of $30 off per tuition! NCT - SPECIAL PERFORMANCE BY BELMONT STUDENTS

Did you see NCT’s You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown a few months ago? NCT actor and teacher, Shawn Knight, (who played Charlie Brown), also teaches at Belmont University; and as a final class project, some of his students will do a presentation at Nashville Children’s Theatre specifically for NCT’s homeschool friends!

On Friday, April 26, at noon, we invite you to join these Belmont University students as they present a display and performance based on the Italian Folktale, “The Three Sisters.”

Beginning at noon, audience members are welcome to view creative displays and participate in activities inspired by both “The Three Sisters” and by commedia dell’arte - an Italian style of performance from the Renaissance using character masks and comedic physicality!

Then at 12:20, the students will present a twenty-minute performance of
“The Three Sisters.” Please join us for this final semester project and enjoy an engaging hour at NCT!
